Mayne Magic Continues Winning Streak with Impressive Victory
By Punters Mind

Mayne Magic has now won five out of six races, and his recent win on Saturday proved once again that he is a top-class racehorse. His previous victories at three different racecourses before this summer had already marked him as a promising contender. Competing in the Dharmaprakasha LS Venkaji Rao Memorial Trophy, Mayne Magic, trained by Kishan Thomas, was the crowd favourite thanks to his three straight wins during the winter and a good show in a mock race. Jockey Antony Raj rode him skillfully, helping him extend his winning streak.
Horses like All Attraction, trained by Lokanath, and Arkadian, from Pesi Shroff’s yard, were expected to challenge Mayne Magic. While All Attraction struggled in this tougher field, Arkadian ran well and finished third behind Secret Saint from Bharath Singh’s stable. With such a performance, Arkadian looks ready to win soon.
Casteel Upsets Favourites in Chettinad Stud Plate
In the Chettinad Stud Plate (run over a mile), the race favourites were Champions Way, trained by Satish Narredu and ridden by Suraj Narredu, and Star Of Night from Hyderabad, trained by Sequeira. Most bettors believed one of the two would win. However, racing is unpredictable, and it was Casteel, another horse from Satish Narredu’s stable, who stole the show. The trainer is known for sending his Doosra when another hot favourite from the stable is cornering all support.Remember how Queen of Kings won when his stable mate was installed as favourite on earlier occasions?,This habit of winning by Doosra, the trainer supposedly inherited during his brief stunt as a trainer for the leading Golden Brown Silks, many whisphered.
Ridden by apprentice jockey Ramswarup and priced at 12-to-1, Casteel sprinted strongly in the final stretch and beat the favourite, Champions Way. Neeraj Rawal, who rode Star Of Night, lodged a complaint saying Casteel had interfered with his horse, but the stewards rejected it. They felt Star Of Night had already lost the race before the incident. Casteel’s strong finish without even needing a whip showed he is in great form and should do well in longer races soon.
Divine Star Shines Bright in Sprint Event
Divine Star, trained by Aman Hussain, started as the favourite in the Marilingaiah Memorial Trophy, a short-distance sprint race. But betting money later shifted to Aquastic, trained by Sulaiman Attaollahi and ridden by Suraj Narredu (filling in for Akshay Kumar). Aquastic didn’t impress and ended up third. Divine Star, ridden by Trevor Patel, led from start to finish and won easily.
Walking Thunder, from Deshmukh’s Hyderabad stable, came in second with another solid run, while Grenoble from Vijay Singh’s yard took fourth place.
Stentorian Wins Tight Finish Over Star Honour
In the final race of the day, the upper division of the Romantic Dance Plate (seven furlongs), Satish Narredu’s horses Stentorian and Star Honour were tipped to fight for the win—and they did just that. Stentorian, ridden by Shezad Khan, made a powerful move along the rails and overtook Star Honour in the closing moments. Star Honour had looked likely to win but drifted out near the finish, allowing Stentorian to grab the lead and win. It was a satisfying 1-2 finish for trainer Satish Narredu.
Amazing Stride Surprises in Lower Division of Romantic Dance Plate
In the lower division of the same race, the favourite at first was Amazing Stride, trained by Padmanabhan, but strong betting support shifted to Adelanto, trained by Rajesh Babu, making him the new favourite. However, it was Amazing Stride, ridden by jockey Umesh, who led the race and pulled away in the final stretch to win comfortably. Vibrant Queen came in second, while Adelanto didn’t perform consistently and ended up third. It was clear before the final turn that Adelanto was not in a position to win.
Sunshine Impresses on Debut in No-Tobacco Day Plate
Juracan, trained by Chouhan, was backed heavily in the World No-Tobacco Day Plate due to his good runs in Mumbai. But he unexpectedly bled during the race and finished far behind. This opened the door for Sunshine, trained by Irfan Ghatala, to win in style. Ridden calmly by Saqlain, Sunshine ran strongly in the final stretch and showed she has the potential to move up to higher levels of competition.
El Alamein Scores Big Win in Opening Race
In the first race of the day, the Classical Act Plate, El Alamein, trained by Faraz and ridden by Bhawani Singh, was backed from 6/1 down to 3/1. He produced a strong finish to beat Embosom, who had looked like the winner before El Alamein surged ahead. The race favourite Raffles, trained by Dominic, saw his betting odds drift from 90/100 to 16/10 and failed to impress, finishing fourth. The betting trend hinted that Raffles was not fully expected to win.
